History of Army Post Accounting: Army Post Accounting was open for business in 1986 and Ed Clemons joined the firm as its owner by 1989. In those early years they only had a few business clients and yearly tax returns which made it a struggle to keep the doors open. Ed first started working on tax returns and business accounts when he was a teenage working for his mother. Ed has also worked in the investment industry before coming to Army Post Accounting. Ed became an enrolled agent in 1980; an enrolled agent is a person who has past a requirement that allow them to practice before the IRS. Donna Harvey (Ed’s Aunt) worked with both Ed and his mother in California and had worked for Norwest/Wells Fargo bank before joining Army Post Accounting in 1999. Chris Mendelsohn purchased the business accounts from Ed in 2004 and the tax return accounts in 2005 keeping the name of Army Post Accounting. Chris has been doing accounting work since 1994 after receiving his Masters in Business Administration from Drake University. in 1993. Chris also became an enrolled agent in March of 2006, and is now also licensed to offer investment products. B.J. Weber, M.B.A. has been working for the company for the past 3 years and will be coming on full time in 2008. B.J. has a strong business background in accounting and consulting work. B.J. is also licensed to offer insurance products. B.J. has recently passed his exam to also become an enrolled agent. In December 2007 Army Post Accounting announced that it had made a deal to purchase Ahl’s accounting (also on Army Post Road). Today combined with the accounts from Ahl’s, Army Post Accounting has over 70 business clients and is projecting it will file over 1900 tax returns for individuals & couples in the 2007 tax season.
